Stijn Oosterlynck is Full Professor in Urban Sociology at the University of Antwerp. He is the chair of the Antwerp Urban Studies Institute and scientific director at the Hannah Arendt Institute for Urbanity, Diversity and Citizenship. He teaches courses on urban studies, inequality and diversity. His research is concerned with the political sociology of urban development, urban renewal and community building, local social innovation and welfare state restructuring, civil society innovation, new forms of solidarity in diversity and urban diversity policies. He has coordinated several large-scale research project on civil society innovation (CSI Flanders), solidarity in diversity (DieGem), local social innovation (ImPRovE) and urban diversity policies (Divercities). He is currently coordinating the Marie Curie International Training Network SOLiDi on solidarity in diversity. He has published extensively in the field of urban studies, ethnic and racial studies and (local) social policy.
