Maya El Khawand

Maya El Khawand is a Lebanese Architect and Urban Designer. She completed her double masters at the “Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts” (ALBA) in Beirut, Lebanon. She did various architecture internships in France, Lebanon and an internship in Switzerland at the Laboratory of Urban Sociology at the EPFL, where she gained knowledge in urban mobility and urban sociology.

Her interests revolve around cities and improving the quality of urban life focusing on mobility, sociology, sustainability and accessibility.

She will be working on the ESR7 at the University Gustave Eiffel in Paris. Her thesis is about reducing mobility dependency in rural urban areas tackling mobility justice, accessibility, motility and mobility dependency. Her thesis project is based on the comparison of four study perimeters in France and Switzerland.
