Matthias Blondia

Matthias is an engineer-architect and urban planner, who is working as an advisor on architecture policy to the board of mayor and aldermen at the city of Ghent (‘Team Stadsbouwmeester’). His doctoral dissertation was on the potential of regional public transport in Flanders as an instrument for spatial planning policy, thus closely related to the topic of the TOD-IS-RUR project, in which he is involved part-time as a post-doctoral researcher.

Previous experiences include coordinating a co-creative design process to cover the ring road of Antwerp, commissioned by the Flemish Government, as well as a postdoctoral position at CIB, the Center for Industrial Policy at KULeuven in Belgium.
