Dorothee Brantz is an urban historian specializing in urban environmental history, the study of human-animal relations, photography, the history of warfare, as well as urban social theory and methods.  Brantz is author, editor, or co-editor of numerous books and articles on these subjects. She heads the Center for Metropolitan Studies with its MA Program in Historical Urban Studies. She also supervises numerous doctoral students as well as guest researchers from many different countries who are doing research in Berlin. Brantz is on the boards of several journals, book series and academic societies and she has served a referee for numerous publications, fellowships and awards.
