Carla Cruz comes from an architectural background, having finished a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2012 and subsequently gaining professional experience in a design firm in Singapore for several years until 2018. In early 2021, she completed her master’s degree in Critical Urbanisms from the urban studies faculty of the University of Basel in Switzerland. Her thesis work focused on commuters and their commuting rhythms reshaped by the intervention of a novel bus system in Metro Manila. Her research interests include but are not limited to mobility, the mobile figure, architecture and infrastructure.
