Doctor in economical sciences (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), Caroline Gallez got a habilitation thesis to supervise research in urban planning and development (Université Paris-Est). She examines the political construction of mobility by crossing different perspectives in social sciences: the representations, imaginaries and knowledge tools of mobility; the role of mobility in lifestyle and daily practice of people; the analysis of political paradigms, instruments and impacts of public policies on individual accessibility and mobility practices. She is most interested in social justice, gender and environmental issues related to the regulation of spatial mobilities. She’s currently involved in several research projects studying the role of grassroots initiatives in ecological transitions and environmental justice. She’s coordinating with other colleagues a project of international dictionary of the production of diffuse urbanization, with the support of Urban Futures Labex of Université Gustave Eiffel (https://dcun.hypotheses.org). She was head of the doctoral school in urban studies of Université Paris-Est between 2017 and 2021. She’s member of the steering and strategic foresight committee of Forum Vies Mobiles, a research institute on mobility funded by SNCF (https://forumviesmobiles.org).
